Abstract

This study aims to analyze the composition of the waste generated by households in the city of Mataram, then calculate the recycling potential of the waste and provide recommendations for efforts to improve waste management in the city of Mataram. The method used is to analyze the composition of household waste by taking samples for eight consecutive days. Meanwhile, to calculate the potential for recycling waste using equation (1). Recommendations for efforts to improve waste management are made based on the results of the analysis of the composition and potential of waste recycling. The result is that the composition of Mataram City waste consists of 13 components of waste and is dominated by organic waste by 64% and in the second place there are other components of waste by 9%. Meanwhile, the components of waste that have the least percentage are metal waste and medical B3 waste, which is 1%. The biggest recycling potential is food waste at 64.35%, the second largest is plastic waste at 8.43%, the third isyard waste at 6.47%, in the fourth position there is paper waste at 2.88%.
