Abstract

The early diagnosis of urothelial cancer allows for effective local treatment and optimizes the success of surgical therapy. Nuclear matrix protein 22 (NMP22), Basic fetoprotein (BFP) and Bladder tumor antigen (BTA) were introduced for the detection of transitional cell carcinoma. The objective of this study was to determine whether there was a correlation between urine NMP22, BFP, BTA and the grade or stage of urothelial cancer, and whether they could serve as a biochemical markers of urothelial cancer.
