Abstract

60 percent of the patients suffering from multiple sclerosis (MS) show detrusor hyperactivity; 50 percent of the patients present with incomplete emptying of the bladder. Treatment must offer good efficacy without an increase in the formation of residual urine. Since more than 40 percent of the MS patients have an impaired hand function the objective of the study is to investigate whether treatment with darifenacin, a selective muscarinic M3 receptor antagonist, can prevent catheterization.
