Abstract
Proliferodiscus is a discomycete genus belonging to the family Lachnaceae (Helotiales). In the present study, a new Proliferodiscus species is identified and introduced based on morphological characteristics and multi-loci phylogenetic analyses of the combined ITS and LSU sequences. Proliferodiscus ailaoensis sp. nov. is characterized by yellow to creamy apothecia, a yellow to white receptacle surface with bushy hairs, filiform, aseptate, unbranched paraphyses with a rounded apex, eight-spored, J- asci with a tapered pedicel, and ascospores that are narrowly fusiform with acute ends, 4–6-septate, and smooth-walled. An updated key to the known species of Proliferodiscus is also provided.
