Abstract

A peripheral reticulum has been observed in epidermal chloroplasts of leaves of Myriophyllum spicatum seedlings. Associated with this membrane system are packets containing 5–80 unbranched tubular or rodlike structures which are individually about 250 A wide by 1500 A long. They are surrounded by the peripheral reticulum and are closely associated with the inner chloroplast membrane.
