Abstract

Within the t-J model, the c-axis charge dynamics of the underdoped cuprates has been studied based on the charge-spin separation fermion-spin theory. In contrast to the in-plane conductivity, the low energy peak of the c-axis conductivity is located at a finite energy, while the c-axis resistivity exhibits a crossover from the high temperature metallic-like behavior to the low temperature insulating-like behavior, in agreement with experiments.
