Abstract

20 diabetic patients, all of them showing a constantly good regulation of their diabetes on their respective dose of glibenclamide during the preceding two months and (all of them) suffering from various, mainly degenerative rheumatic diseases, were taken up into the study. After a three days period the patients were additionally given sulindac for a duration of 5 days. During the entire test period the blood sugar levels were measured three times daily in order to recognize a possible drug interaction. The evaluation of the data by means of a double variance analysis did not show any significant differences of the blood sugar levels during period and the period of additional sulindac medication. From these results it can be assumed that there is no clinically significant drug interaction between glibenclamide and sulindac.
