Abstract

[1- 14 C]-ethanol supplied to the cotyledons of 9-d-old Euphorbia lathyris seedlings was rapidly incorporated into unsaponifiable lipids, particularly into sterols, latex triterpenols and into the triterpene ketones of the epicuticular wax. The [ 14 C]-triterpenoid production from ethanol was hardly affected by sucrose in the external medium when sucrose uptake rates were low, but when the uptake rate was higher the [ 14 9C]-triterpenoid production from [ 14 C]-ethanol was greatly reduced
