A graduate of the California State University at Chico with a B.A. in Philosophy, he received his M.A. in History from the California State University at Fullerton, and a Masters of Philosophy and a Ph.D. in History from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He has written extensively on transnational extremism, political violence, and counterterrorism. His work on European and South Asian politics has appeared in a wide range of publications and scholarly journals.
