Abstract
The meeting of the Council was called to order at 13h 35m on December 28, 1962, in Room 282 of the Engineering Building of Stanford University, by President Thomas E. Malone. Council members present were William C. Ackermann, Richard R. Doell (alternate for Thomas B. Nolan, Department of the Interior), C. T . Elvey, Willis B. Foster, Edward D. Goldberg (alternate for Hatten S. Voder, Jr., Section of Volcanology, Geochemistry, and Petrology), J. C. Harrison (alternate for Floyd Hough, Section of Geodesy), J. Wallace Joyce, Joseph Kaplan, John Lyman, Thomas F. Malone, Morris Neiburger, James A. Peoples, Jr., Donald W. Pritchard, A. Nelson Sayre, Louis B. Slichter, Waldo E. Smith, E. H. Vestine, and Charles A. Whitten. Others present were Leason H. Adams (Editor, Triennial Report), Arthur F . Pillsbury (Chairman, Pacific Southwest Regional Committee), and David K.
