Abstract

The Evening Session of the Thirty‐Third Annual Meeting was called to order by President Walter H. Bucher at 2Oh 05m, Monday, May 5, 1952, in the Lecture Room of the National Academy of Sciences, 2101 Constitution Avenue, Washington, D. C. About 200 were in attendance. After preliminary and welcoming remarks, President Bucher introduced John Putnam Marble, Chairman of the Committee on Meetings. He introduced R. A. Alpher and R. C. Herman of the Applied Physics Laboratory of Johns Hopkins University, who spoke on The Origin of the Elements [see abstract in Program, p . 313].
