Abstract
This paper explores the unintended impact which economic sanctions has on North Korea. In doing so, philosophical theories developed by Eric Voegelin in the post WWII era are lent to the present day issues to highlight the similarities between North Korea and Germany in the period between the end of the First World War and the end of World War II. Additionally, this paper explains the negative outcomes of economic sanctions through comparisons with Iraq in the 1990's until the 2003 invasion, in order to argue for armed conflict to resolve the North Korea problem; in a just manner.
