Abstract
This article discusses a successful unidirectional flushing (UDF) program that requires a structured approach, including detailed planning, coordination, communication, and quality control. The article discusses the key steps of a UDF program that include the following: UDF design model development; asset assessments; public notification; flushing; and, water quality sampling. The article presents lessons learned from the city of Melbourne, Florida's experience with developing, implementing, and recently completing a successful UDF program.
