Abstract

A circularly polarized (CP) mirror-integrated dielectric resonator (DR) antenna (DRA) is investigated. Beneath the mirror is a cylindrical DR, therefore it is effectively a two-layer DRA. The DRA is excited in its fundamental HEM11δ mode. To obtain a mirror, the glass slab is coated with a non-conducting film at its back. Since the film is non-conducting, the electromagnetic wave can transmit from the DR to the glass and vice versa. A metal strip is placed between the DR and mirror to convert linearly polarized fields into circularly polarized fields. Simulated results show that the proposed CP antenna can cover the 2.4-GHz WLAN band.
