Abstract

In the commercial pressurized water reactors (PWRs), the trace silica will induce silica scaling, thus results in the decrease of the heat transfer efficiency and the operation safety. Silica should be selectively removed in the background of boron with ultrahigh concentration. In this short communication, An HS-SI adsorbent was fabricated by simple centrifugal spray granulation from the mixture of Ce(OH)4 and microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) for the first time. The HS-SI adsorbent exhibited unexpected selectivity for trace silica removal from simulated ultrahigh boron concentration solution in primary circuit of commercial PWRs.
