Abstract

At Tiouit, an early hydrothermalism induced a strong Al-metasomatism mostly within granodiorites: andalusite, gahnite, muscovite and Mn-garnets successively replace the magmatic feldspars and Fe-Mg minerals. Next, fractures are filled by quartz and successive sulfides, pyrite, sphalerite and chalcopyrite, while chlorites develop throughout the host-rocks. Then a hematitic metasomatism occurs, during which Au and Ag, hidden in the pyrite?, crystallize as electrum. The relationships between these events and magmatites are examined; the latter belong to the Upper Proterozoic cover, like equivalents elsewhere in the Anti-Atlas.
