Abstract
The wavelength and polarization dependence on angle of spontaneous undulator radiation (UR) of relativistic electrons have been investigated theoretically and experimentally in the optical region of the spectrum. The electrons move in plane magnetic undulator installed in the ring of an electron synchrotron. It has been shown to be possible with the help of the method used for measuring the UR spectrum to make highly accurate spectral calibrations of other instruments and to determine their transmission function. The work has also demonstrated the possibility of measuring the absolute energy of the particle beam from the experimental characteristics of the UR.
