Abstract
High data-transmission rate and reliable communication in shallow water is a challenge for underwater acoustic (UWA) communication. With spatial and temporal focusing characteristics, time reversal processing (TRP) can be used for multiple input/multiple output (MIMO) UWA communication. In combination with adaptive channel equalization and channel coding methods, TRP can further reduce the residual inter-symbol interference (ISI) and cross interference. This paper presents experimental results of active time reversal (ATR) communication on the lake. The data-transmission rate of 8kbits/s and bit error rate (BER) of 1e-3 are obtained at signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 11dB in a two-user scenario.
