Abstract

This study is aimed at investigating how buyer extra-role behavior enhances supply-side operational transparency. Using data collected in a two-wave survey from Chinese manufacturing firms, regression analysis, and bootstrapping techniques are used to test the proposed hypotheses. The findings indicate that buyer extra-role behavior positively impacts supply-side operational transparency through the promotion of supplier benevolence and the facilitation of supplier information sharing. This study contributes to the existing SC transparency literature through its examination of the impact of buyer extra-role behavior on supply-side operational transparency as well as the serial mediating roles of supplier benevolence and supplier information sharing.
