Abstract

The general objective of this paper is to demonstrate the understanding of the concept of quality assurance in Europe. In doing so this paper provided: (1) a definition of quality and quality assurance; (2) an illustration of hierarchy in quality assurance organizations in Europe; (3) a commentary on the Bologna process; (4) a description of the quality assessment process and timeline; (5) a comparison of the US accreditation system and European quality assurance system; and (6) the role of European governments in the quality assurance process.
