Abstract
The general objective of this paper is to demonstrate the understanding off the concept of accreditation. In doing so this paper: (1) defined the concept of accreditation; (2) illustrated hierarchy in accrediting bodies by considering SACSCOC as a case example; (3) identified the purpose of accreditation; (4) described the accreditation process and timeline of Council on Financial Education Accreditation (CFEA); (5) compared and contrasted the US accreditation system to Ethiopian accreditation system; and (6) identified role of governments in the accreditation process.
