Abstract

There are many filters in digital data acquisition and analysis. These filters have both positive and negative effects on the data. While the positive effects (like removing signal in specified frequency bands) are obvious. The negative effects (like signal delays) may not be so obvious. This presentation will discuss in detail the negative effects on the data and how these effects can be mitigated. We will cover the Finite Impulse Response (FIR) and Infinite Impulse Response (IIR) filters.
