Abstract
I have read with great interest the editorial in a recent Clinical Nutrition issue regarding the ESPEN survey of clinical nutrition education in European medical schools [ [1] Cuerda C. Schneider S.M. Van Gossum A. Clinical nutrition education in medical schools: results of an ESPEN survey. Clin Nutr. 2017; 36: 915-916 Abstract Full Text Full Text PDF PubMed Scopus (28) Google Scholar ]. This survey provides data from representative university centers internationally. Data from Greece is incomplete since only one Greek medical school was included in that survey, while Greek medical schools were not included at all in another survey reporting nutrition education in medical departments across Europe [ [2] Chung M. van Buul V.J. Wilms E. Nellessen N. Brouns F.J. Nutrition education in European medical schools: results of an international survey. Eur J Clin Nutr. 2014; 68: 844-846 Crossref PubMed Scopus (54) Google Scholar ]. Greek data for the undergraduate nutrition education among other health professionals who are expected to provide reliable nutritional information such as dentists, pharmacists, nurses and midwives have also not been reported. These data could provide helpful insight in awareness regarding nutrition education of health professionals.
