Abstract

ABSTRACTIt is demonstrated in this paper that early uncertainty resolution is preferred to delayed uncertainty resolution when comparing sets of uncertain cash flow sequences in an N‐period setting. The implicit and often unwarranted assumptions regarding uncertainty resolution which are made in the three widely used methods in capital budgeting problems are demonstrated. Finally, it is demonstrated that the generally accepted procedure for measuring uncertainty resolution is restrictive in its underlying assumptions.
