Abstract

One of the possible situations throughout a government was the death of the owner, in which case anomalous solutions arose with respect to the regulated ones, since the urban oligarchies would take advantage of the distance of the Court to proceed to a council election of the governor. What happened in the Cabildo of Tenerife at one of those junctures in the middle of the s. XVI with the confrontation between different factions, in a context that explains this struggle, with interventions by the Royal Court of the Canary Islands of the monarchy.
