Dans les hautes chaines du Jura meridional et central, entre la limite superieure des forets et les pelouses alpines, dans les stations tres exposees, on rencontre un groupement arbustif dont l'espece dominante,Rhamnus alpina, accompagne deSorbus aria, S. mougeotii, S. aucuparia, Laburnum alpinum, Lonicera alpigena, Rubus saxatilis, Valeriana montana, Knautia silvatica etCarduus defloratus forment la combinaison caracteristique.
