Abstract

This document presents the analysis of three connection networks between companies and higher education institutions in order to propose a reflec tion that will make possible to understand better the essential features of the different connection modes. This study makes use of data that come from the National Company Connection Survey (Encuesta Nacional de Vinculacion de Empresas), whose contents and national representation makes possible to analyze the structure of the connection networks for three purposes: 1) transfer and training of human resources; 2) transfer of technological resources and 3) transfer of resources for research and development. The results of this analysis show that the less complex modali ties use to produce the networks with the greatest density. The discussion that is presented here suggests that the variation in the density of those networks has to do with the effects that the transaction costs have in the establishment of connections between the companies and the IES.
