Abstract

The present article focuses some aspects of domestic violence, using issues analyzed in the book “A child treated as a thing”, by Dave Pelzer, and his perception of infant and adolescent mistreatments. The thematic is illustrated by vignettes, focusing on some aspects of family structure and dynamic according to the systemic point of view, the evolution of mistreatments throughout the years, and the importance of the technical preparation for health and education professionals to early diagnostic and to intervene on abuse situations. The narratives can create a holographic space in the reader’s mind and also to communicate internal and external realities.
