Abstract
Introduction: The abductor hallucis muscle (AbdH) plays an integral role during normal gait and pathological foot conditions. The aim was to establish a standardised protocol using diagnostic ultrasound imaging and to evaluate within and between-session repeatability of the cross-sectional area, width and length of the AbdH muscle in asymptomatic adults. Methodology: Thirty asymptomatic adults (mean age 28.2 years) were measured with a Phillips HD11 Real-time Ultrasound machine. A real-time image of the AbdH muscle was captured.
