Abstract
Verruca plantaris (plantar wart) is a painful dermatological condition exhibiting a high resistance to a variety of therapeutic procedures. The frequent incidence of this condition in athletes plus the resulting disability in locomotion makes modes of plantar wart treatment a subject of interest in sports medicine. The use of ultrasound as a treatment is of particular interest due to lack of decreased disability with treatment. However, due to the variables associated with ultrasound treatment, there exists a number of techniques in the use of ultrasound for treatment of plantar warts. This variance in methodology has led to confusion regarding the effectiveness of ultrasound. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to review research findings regarding ultrasound as therapeutic modality in treatment of plantar warts.
