Abstract

Ultrasonic butt welding by 27 kHz or 19 kHz vibration frequency systems is studied. Welding specimens used are aluminum, anticorrosive aluminum and copper plates of 6 mm thickness. These welding specimens are successfully joined end to end by these 27 kHz and 19 kHz ultrasonic butt welding equipments. The ultrasonic vibration source used consists of a radial to longitudinal vibration direction converter with 6 or 8 bolt-clamped Langevin type PZT transducers of 27 kHz or 19 kHz vibration frequency. Required power for joining aluminum and aluminum to copper specimens are 1 – 3 kW/cm 2 and 2 – 4 kW/cm 2 .
