Abstract

The quality of ultrasonic images in case of diagnosis of an abnormality in the human body as well as for structural analysis of a material depends mainly upon the resolution and sensitivity of a transducer used. In NPL different types of ultrasonic transducers have been developed for various diagnostic, therapeutic and scientific applications. Array systems are, however, preferred for layer-by-layer study of a structure. Design and development of ultrasonic array systems for various imaging applications mainly for medical and material structure analysis are described in this paper.
