Abstract
High-brightness ultrafast electron beams are of significant interest to researchers because of their diverse applications. In order to further improve the quality of ultrafast electron beams, we propose a novel method in this paper, which involves compressing electron beams by using the beating laser generated from two chirped radially polarized lasers. This proposed method allows for the compression of electron beams with different pulse widths. Furthermore, it employs two lasers from the same source, which minimizes the impact of laser’s transverse position offset on bunch compression at the modulation point. This method reduces the requirement of laser system and increases its robustness under non-ideal conditions, making it highly valuable for the generation and application of ultrashort electron beams.
