Abstract
Ultracold atomic gases have long held promise as a quantum many-body resource for field and force metrology. A powerful route to extend such quantum-limited sensors to sub-micron length scales is to interface the atomic gas to an optomechanical device creating a 'hybrid quantum system'. We will discuss our ongoing work toward the realization of such hybrid systems for metrology as well as the coherent quantum control of optomechanical devices.
