Abstract
This paper introduces a compact UWB planar monopole antenna for microwave imaging systems. An antenna consists of square shaped radiating patch with a couple of C shaped slots for exciting resonance. By introducing T shaped sleeves on the ground plane, wide impedance bandwidth is achieved in range of (3.6 - 12 GHz). The proposed antenna has compressed size having dimensions Ls× Ws× Hs mm3. By embedding C-shaped slots with varying dimensions on radiating patch additional resonance are excited which results better wide impedance bandwidth. Simulated results such as return loss, gain, radiation pattern authenticate the convenient antenna structure for different microwave imaging system applications.
