Abstract

The role of the nurse in the everyday work in different health institutions is very important and today recognized as the basis of modern health care. Nurses are an important pillar of all activities that are carried out in order to improve health and prevent disease. They educate patients about the choice of a healthy lifestyle, immunization and available screening tests, as they often today, in large research centers, introduce patients to possibilities of new modalities for the treatment of certain diseases, through participation in clinical trials. Clinical trials are of enormous importance in the field of medicine and health care. They play a key role in advancing medical knowledge as well as improving patient care. However, the most important postulate in a clinical trial is the guarantee of the subject's safety and the application of the best possible therapy. Nurses are indispensable members of the clinical trial team, contributing significantly to the overall success of a trial, both from the point of view of the integrity of the collected data and from the point of view of patient satisfaction. The growing development of research is increasingly recognizing the important role and importance of the nurse, who must possess modern knowledge and specific skills in order to meet the ever-increasing demands that this profession brings with it today.
