Abstract

The complex work of Anatoly Petrytsky on the design of the «Ukrainian Fair» (advertising panels, posters, scenery for the plays of M. Sadovsky Theater, etc.) was explored. Independence and non-standardity of the young artist’s creative approach has been proved, which testified to the emergence in the Ukrainian art of national talent, able to stylize the selected material and «play» in the dramatized space. The formation of A. Petrytsky as an artist was considered on the background of processes that took place in the visual and the atrical art of the 1910s and significantly influenced the formation of the artist’s creative individuality. The role of Basil and Fyodor Krichevsky brothers in the development of the personality of the future scenographer has been clarified. The research was carried out on the basis of analysis of archival data and magazine publications.
