Abstract
The death knell for Daresbury's Nuclear Structure Facility was finally sounded last month by the science and Engineering Research Council, following the refusal by the government to find more money to keep it open. The SERC hopes to keep it running until 1992 so as to honour the first part of its EUROGAM detector collaboration agreement with France, but is offering no incentives to keep staff in place.
