Abstract

Many problems caused by the use of synthetic chemical drugs, then look for other alternatives in treating diabetes is by using materials from nature. Research on some natural ingredients showed that ethanol extract of kersen leaf (Muntingia calabura L.) Contain flavonoids that allegedly have the effect of lowering blood glucose level. This study aims to determine the effect of ethanol extract of kersen leaf (Muntingia calabura L.) In lowering blood glucose level in male mice (Mus musculus). The antidiabetic effectiveness test was performed using 25 male mice divided into 5 groups: positive control group (glibenclamide), negative control group (Na CMC), ethanol extract group of cherry leaf (Muntingia calabura L.) 6 mg dose / 20 g bb mice, 9 mg/ 20 g bb mice, and 12 mg / 20 g bb mice. Blood glucose measurement at minute 0, 30, 60, 90, 120 was then analyzed using one way anova statistic test with 95% confidence level then continued with least significant different (LSD) test. The results showed that the most effective dose to decrease blood glucose level in male mice was ethanol extract of kersen leaf (Muntingia calabura L.) Dose 12 mg / 20 g bb.
