Abstract

Cities continue to become more crowded in terms of population and tiring for human life. Intensive city life brings with it many negativities such as noise, sound and visual pollution, traffic problems and stress. In this busy lifestyle, people want to engage in recreation activities and take care of nature, even in small time periods. Among the recreational activities of today, one of the ones suitable for city life is hobby gardens. Hobby gardens are one of the modern world recreation activities that people tend towards within the scope of their desires such as agricultural activity, rest and being in nature. The aim of the study is to examine the hobby gardens in Usak in terms of their usage practices and housing characteristics. In the study, data were collected by interview method, one of the data collection tools in qualitative research methods. Hobby garden, which is our study area, has been evaluated in a geographical framework and whether it complies with the general hobby garden literature. In our study area, which has been separated from the standard hobby gardens, it has been determined that although they mostly look at the hobby garden as an agricultural activity, there are summer or only recreational approaches. In terms of residential features, single-room and prefabricated buildings are widely built in the hobby garden.
