Abstract

Abstract A direct method for determination of phenylepherine hydrochloride in presence of chlorapheneramine maleate, sulphacetamide or prednisolone acetate was achieved by first derivative (dA/dλ), delta absorption (ΔA) and first derivative of the delta absorption. (dΔA/dλ), spectrophotometric techniques applying “Zero-Crossing” technique of measurement. The method was proved using synthetic mixtures of pheylepherine hydrochloride in presence of chlorapheneramine maleate, sulphacEtamide or prednisolone acetate. The utility of the method in assay of syrup, laboratory prepared ophthalmic solution or eye drops was also presented.
