Abstract
In this paper we consider a class of distribution-free two-stage two-sample median tests for location differences. Exact null distribution tables are provided and a negative binomial approximation is presented for obtaining approximate α level cutoff points. The test procedures have the capability of obtaining asymptotic power restrictions against alternatives of interest and are particularly appropriate for competitor product testing settings. Criteria for selecting a particular test from the class are discussed.
