Abstract

Very few of the many short poems found in the manuscripts left by Charlotte Brontë have not been published. Of the following two poems (now printed for the first time) the first is in a manuscript book intended to be used for “Translations from English to German” when she was a pupil and teacher in the Heger Pensionnat in Brussels in the year 1843. Only a few of the pages were used for this purpose, and the remainder were doubtless used by Charlotte Brontë after her return to Haworth Parsonage in January, 1844.
