Abstract
Unexpected NMR shifts observed for one bis-ansa iron(II)_carbonmonoxide porphyrin system are considered to be inconsistent with a linear FeCO unit lying perpendicular to the porphyrin plane and rather are deemed to be consonant with the hypothesis that reduced CO affinities in myoglobin complexes may indicate deformations in the actual porphyrin cores.
