Abstract
Results on two-particle Delta eta Delta phi correlations in inelastic p + p interactions at 20, 31, 40, 80, and 158 GeV/c are presented. The measurements were performed using the large acceptance NA61/SHINE hadron spectrometer at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron. The data show structures which can be attributed mainly to effects of resonance decays, momentum conservation, and quantum statistics. The results are compared with the Epos and UrQMD models.

Introduction and motivationThis paper presents experimental results on two-particle correlations in pseudorapidity and azimuthal angle of charged particles produced in inelastic p + p interactions at 20, 31, 40, 80, and 158 GeV/c
The events selected for the analysis had to satisfy the conditions: (i) event is recorded with the interaction trigger, (ii) the beam particle trajectory is measured in at least one of beam position detectors (BPDs)-1 or BPD-2 and in the BPD-3 detector, (iii) no off-time beam particle is detected within ±1 μs around the trigger particle, (iv) there is at least one track reconstructed in the Time Projection Chambers (TPCs) and fitted to the interaction vertex, (v) the vertex z position
