Abstract

Phytochemical investigation of the leaves of Aralia elata has led to the isolation of two new compounds 3-O-β-d-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 3)-β-d-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 3)-β-d-glucopyranosyl echinocystic acid (1) and 3-O-β-d-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 3)-β-d-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 3)-β-d-glucopyranosyl oleanolic acid 28-O-β-d-glucopyranoside (2), together with four known compounds 3–6, which were isolated for the first time from this genus. Structural determination was accomplished by spectroscopic analysis, particularly by 13C NMR, 2D NMR, and HR-ESI-MS techniques.
