Abstract

Two new species of chiggers parasitizing bats, Whartonia dewitti , n. sp. ex Rhinolophus affinis from Malaysia and Thailand, and W. teongwahi , n. sp. ex R. acuminatus sumatranus and Hipposideros larvatus neglectus from Indonesia, are described and illustrated. With the description of the 2 new species, the number of Old World Whartonia species is increased to 21.
