Abstract

Two new species of trombiculid mites from Western-ghats in Poona district, Maharashtra, India are described and illustrated. Leptotrombidium (Leptotrombidium) sinhgarhense , n. sp. which is close to L. (L.) scutellare (Nagayo, et al., 1920) was collected from Rattus rattus rufescens, R. r. satarae, Millardia sp. and Suncus murinus , in Sinhgarh, Atkarwadi, Lonavla and Nighudgarh. Gahrliepia (Schoengastiella) ramachandrai , n. sp. which is close to G. (S.) ligula (Radford, 1946) was collected from Rattus rattus rufescens, Mus booduga and Suncus murinus in Atkarwadi, Sinhgarh and Lonavla.
