Abstract

Abstract Two dicotyledonous plant species belonging to two different families of angiosperms including Cassia fistula from Fabaceae and Terminalia catappa from Combretaceae have been reported for the first time from Bhopal district of Madhya Pradesh, India. These species were collected from the Shyamla hills in southern side of the study area. Each species was presented with updated nomenclature with latest synonyms, taxonomic description, ecology, geographical distribution, phenology and field photographs of species. Synonym of Cassia fistula L. is Cassia rhombifolia Roxb Hort. The flowering and fruiting period of the species was from May to November and November to March, respectively. The synonym of Terminalia catappa Linn is Terminalia catappa Linn. The species flowers in July, September and bears fruit in December.
