Abstract
Two-flux solutions of the equation of transfer are used to derive expressions for the total reflectance of a plane-parallel, semi-infinite diffuser. The Kubelka-Munk solution is extended to include the case of oblique incident radiation and, in addition, other formulae are obtained. The new formulae retain the essential simplicity of the Kubelka-Munk solution but are considerably more accurate, especially so in the region of high absorption.
